Midterm Elections has been the center of all news reporting for the past two weeks. As a local newspaper, Boston Globe has dedicated to cover the campaigns in Massachusetts.
Before the Election, there was comprehensive reporting not on the obvious candidates - Elizabeth Warren and Geoff Diehl - but also on ballot measures. For example, Boston Globe published different sets of views on ballot question 3. Even though I do not agree with all of them, I think it is very respectful that the Globe chose to present all aspects of this issue with equal importance.
As for the election results, I want to give credit to Boston Globe for the great infographics they have made to visualize data.
The visualization contains voting statistics from all over Massachusetts. The colors and representations of graphics has made data much more easier to understand, therefore it’s great for its readers to get the idea instantaneously.
Aside from visuals, Boston Globe also had many articles that focused on different, and interesting aspects of this Election. Columnist had found ways to speak to the audience and relate, reporters had found ways to report facts in a new angle.
Boston Globe has also added a whole new section of news.
— “Marijuana”
I think this was a great decision. As the biggest local newspaper for Boston Area, even Massachusetts, Boston Globe has the responsibility to emphasize coverage on Marijuana not only to connect with its readers, but also to inform the general public — Marijuana is still being studied and we do not understand everything about it yet. It is important for readers to get as much information as they become available.
